Shawn Nix - School Counselor

Shawn Nix is a native of Columbia, SC where she grew up a Clemson Tigers fan in Gamecock country. She is married with two children, Drew (12 years old) and Rachel-Beth (17 years old). She earned a B.S. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Lander University. After graduating from Lander, Shawn served in missions and ministry in South Carolina, California, Louisiana, and Texas. She then continued her education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC where she earned a M.A. in Counseling. She also holds a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Liberty University. As a pastor's wife, Shawn has lived in several states, but landed in Ware Shoals, SC five years ago. She has worked in several capacities including family literacy, serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, teaching in a general education classroom, and most recently as a school counselor.

 

I am so thrilled to be a part of the Mays Rays family! I am excited to serve alongside the excellent staff of Mays Elementary and support students in any way I can. I firmly believe that every child can and will learn and that each child brings gifts and talents to their relationships, including the classroom. My role is to support students socially, emotionally, and academically. As a "Leader in Me" school, I can't wait to see our students and staff blossom into the leaders they can be! I am truly looking forward to building relationships with students, parents, teachers, and staff as we embark on this adventure that awaits us this year!
